No Worries

“No Worries” is song #41 in my quest to write a new song every Monday in 2025.

It’s about the peacekeepers and people-pleasers who say “no worries” while quietly falling apart inside.

Sometimes the real trouble in me isn’t conflict.
It’s pretending I'm fine.

This is also my Week 40 entry in the Wildwood Recording Song Contest from the prompt "Trouble"

Lyrics

VERSE 1
Four six-sided dice shaken, tossed on the table,
To measure my worth and decide if I’m able
Intelligence, strength, constitution, and wisdom
Without my consent, I’m defined by the system

VERSE 2
You roll your attack with a die, twenty sides,
And strike with a weapon that wounds me inside
It rattles my bones when it lands sure and true;
It’s costing me life, but means nothing to you.

CHORUS
No worries, no trouble, I’m fine, I’m okay,
I’ll just put on a smile and keep playing your game
But the trouble’s not dragons or weapons or battles
It’s pretending I’m peaceful while coming unraveled

VERSE 3
I play the one who keeps peace in the room,
A healer who’s bleeding while patching your wounds
“No worries,” I say, meeting cruelty with grace,
Sacrificing myself while I’m saving your face

OUTRO
I wanna lay down the dice and quit playing the game;
I’m done being a target while you’re taking aim
