From the recording Threadbare Songs
I don't really know what to say about this one. The @WildwoodRecording prompt this week was to write a song about a pet. We have several pets, but I chose "Strider" our bearded dragon. He's named after the wandering warrior king Aragorn in Lord of the Rings... a ranger who is the heir to Gondor's throne. I've been under the weather this week, so this song may (or may not) be influenced by the presence of Cold and Flu medicine in my system. LOL. Enjoy?
Lyrics
He travels through the hills of his 40-gallon home
Strider, the ranger from the north
A vagabond king, wandering far from his throne
A bearded royal stuck in dragon form
And the heat lamp’s always watching him
Like Sauron’s evil eye
He hunts for orc-like crickets
But his armor’s rough and dry
He longs for great adventure
With so little room to roam
No fellowship, he’s stuck here all alone
His name is Strider the bearded dragon
He’s more regal than you might imagine
Born for adventure, royal blood flows through his veins
But it’s a solitary kingdom where he reigns
